There are many things you can change in your diet when you are pregnant. When you decide you are ready to have a baby your doctor may tell you to start on those pre-natal vitamins right away. Taking those vitamins is one of the most important things you can do for your baby while you are pregnant. You may need to try a few different brands until you find the one that you like. Some may cause you to have nausea, and since you need to take is every day it is important to find one that is right for you. You can try taking it at the time of day when you are least nauseas. Even with the vitamin you still want to make sure you are eating a healthy diet. Pregnancy may come with many food aversions and cravings. You may find yourself craving certain foods that you don’t normally eat. It is good to have what you crave even if it is junk food you can have just a little. You may also find yourself getting repulsed from foods you used to love. This is very common and normal among many pregnant women. Still, you have to make sure you are eating lots of vegetables and fruit because they are very good for you and for your growing baby. At every meal, you should try to have a protein, like meat, chicken, beans, soy, eggs etc… Nuts are also a great snack and are a good source of protein. When eating dairy like milk and cheese you have to make sure they are pasteurized. This helps to protect you and your baby from dangerous bacterial infections. Even eggs now come pasteurized. This gets rid of the risk of salmonella poisoning. Getting a lot of calcium is also very important. Try to have two glasses of milk a day. If you do not like milk you can ask your doctor to recommend a good calcium supplement that is safe to take while pregnant. If you are taking other vitamins or supplements be sure to discuss this with your doctor first, because taking too much is not good. I don’t recall the extent of President George Bush’s or President Obama’s campaign focus on children and issues concerning children but future presidents would surely be praised for focusing on children during their campaigns and later during their presidential tenures.

portrait artist has been a staple of the medium since pencil found paper. It has long been a custom of artists to paint their image on a canvas. This old and cherished tradition was largely driven by commissioned work which has given way to other mediums. Today portrait painting haslargely been replaced by film and video. Commissioned portrait artists today will often be seen whipping out sketches in busy shopping districts, or drawing pictures of suspects from a victim’s description. Yet portraits and self portraits are still a beloved subject many artists paint. Self portraits are a very popular, in part because the model seldom complains. Some great artists of the past would slip their likeness into their paintings. Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, 1571-1610, was that kind of painter.
A typical Caravaggio can easily be recognized by the dramatic light. The illumination is filled with contrast, the composition bathed in bright and dark with no intermediate shades. It is a dramatic lightening that easily captures the attention and directs the eye to the action. It is formally know as Tenebrism, the spectacular disparity of light and dark. Caravaggio’s shadow’s are nearly featureless, creating a negative space that makes the subject explode off the canvas. His paintings are also noted for their emotional realism.
His first two public commissions, Martyrdom of Saint Mathew and Calling of Saint Mathew, garnered him a loyal following and plenty of patrons. He became somewhat of a celebrity and he had the personality to accompany it. He became known for his brawling behavior, showy personal displays and eventually had to flee Rome after killing a man in a brawl. Caravaggiostarted carrying a sword and dagger and in his later years even slept in his clothes and with a knife. He fled Sicily when he feared assassins were after him.
Caravaggio’s most famous self-portrait is titled Young Sick Bacchus. Academics have found his portrait in many of his works. In Carvaggio’s work, The Taking of Christ, Caravaggio is in the mob holding the lantern. In the painting, The Musicians, Caravaggiois seated behind the lute player, believed to be modeled after Mario Minniti, an Italian artist and companion of Caravaggio’s. In Caravaggio’s rendering of the battle between David and Goliath, it appears he is david. In the latter versions of this painting he is believed to also be the face of Goliath. In his painting, The Martyrdom of Saint Mathew, Caravaggioappears in the background watching Saint Mathew fall under the sword. Caravggio placed himself in the face of Medusa, a Roman Style painting.
There is debate and speculation as to how often he appears in his own paintings. It is a pastime for many similar to looking for a film director’s cameo, or finding Waldo. There is no question that he appears in many of his paintings. In many others he uses the same young models, often Mario Minniti. When you come across a painting by Caravaggio, look closely at the faces. Caravaggio may be looking at you.
